"Skunk Cabbage and Possum".  These were artifacts found on a walk in the woods in early spring--a skunk cabbage leaf and a possum skull.  Cyanotypes on silk, vintage embroidery, silk, cotton and wool fabric, stitching, hand beading.  Size: 38" x 40".  For Sale: $3,200.

"November Pawpaw".  The center image is a cyanotype on silk, the panel on the right is a piece of vintage embroidery, and it also includes silk, hemp, wool, and corduroy fabrics and hand beading.  The leaves were gathered in the early November, just before they fell, and show the revages of weather and insects.  Pawpaws, the northern most representative of a tropical family of trees, grow wild in Lancaster County, usually near streams, and bear large edible fruits evocative of bananas and custard.  Once again, I have a work that pictures don't really do justice to--there is a lot of texture here that doesn't photograph well!  Size:  42" x 40".   For Sale:  $3,500.

"Sumac" features a heliographic print on cotton, with silk and cotton fabrics, Seminole piecework, extensive machine stitching, and hand beading. The left and bottom borders are cotton velveteen, which soaks up the light in photographs, but is wonderfully rich in color and deeply textural.  Each fall the wild sumac that has naturalized on cleared ground at the cul-de-sac on my street puts on a brilliant and fiery display of red and orange foliage.  Size:  56" x 40".    For Sale:  $4,700.

Upcoming Exhibits: International Quilt Festival/Chicago, April 11-13, Rosemont, IL.  Iternational Quilt Festival/Long Beach, July 25-27, Long Beach, California.

"Royal Paulownia" is another work that shows my fascination with gigantic leaves.  The two images are life-size prints from leaves of the Royal Paulownia tree, an Asian native that has established itself here.  The top image is a heliographic print, the lower one is a cyanotype. The borders are pieced from silks and handwoven Indian cottons, with raw silk corner blocks. It is extensively machine stitched, painted, and hand beaded.  Size:  38" x 58".                For Sale:  $4,700

"Tall Blue Lettuce" is my interpretation of Lactuca biennis, a native wild aster that can grow to ten feet tall. It features a cyanotype panel on the left, and a heliographic print on the right.  The leaves in the panels have hand embroidered veining. It incorporates Seminole piecing and handpainted fabrics, and is extensively machine stitched.     Size:  47" x 37"     For Sale:  $3,600

"The Cul-de-sac"  An area of mature woodland at the end of my street was cleared for the construction of a cul-de-sac.  I am fascinated with the regrowth of pioneer plants, both native and exotics,  that have struggled to establish themselves on the bare ground.  These images were taken in the second year of growth.  The plants included are sycamore, mile-a-minute vine, moth mullein, locust, tulip poplar, raspberry, sumac, Virginia creeper, ragweed, white campion, locust, and poke.  The center image is a cyanotype enhanced with hand embroidery, the side panels are heliographic prints, and the top and bottom panels are digitally altered photographic prints.  It is machined stitched and embellished with couched threads.   It measures 63" x 39".   For Sale:  $5,200.
